So….Last spring around Easter we decided to get out once a month on a Sunday and write about our adventures. So far we have the going out part down but the writing part has been lagging. Our first adventure was a trip to The Blue Door Longfellow in Minneapolis, over three months ago.
The Blue Door is hidden in the middle of the Longfellow neighborhood in a unassuming building. The type of building you see dotted in residential areas through out the country. Whether it is a neighborhood grocer, pub, dry cleaner, or salon, they all seem to look the same. Inside this particular building The Blue Door is busy turning out Blucys. A burger made with various ingredients stuffed between two beef patties, kinda like a up-scale Juicy Lucy. While a Juicy Lucy is a burger stuffed with american cheese, the original Blucy is stuffed with blue cheese and garlic. But wait there is more, there are multiple creative variations of the Blucy, each with differing kinds of cheese and ingredients stuffed inside.
Since it has been over three months I don’t remember what Blucys we all ordered. I do know I had a Breakfast Blucy. If I remember right it was stuffed with american cheese and maple syrup and was topped with bacon and an egg. Even though I don’t remember the food everyone else ordered, I do recall that we all enjoyed it. I could go on about The Blue Door, but I don’t want to.
I’m tired and I want to post this. But before I go, let’s talk about secrets. During this outing a few family secrets were outed. Now being it was three months ago I don’t remember all that was divulged. I also don’t believe it is necessary for me to divulge what I do remember. I do want to make the following point though.
Stick with me here..I know I’m tired and will probably read this in the morning and wonder “what in world”… When the waitress brings out a Blucy to the table it looks like a normal burger for the most part. But there is a secret hidden in the middle and it is only a matter of time before I bite into it and uncover the secret. Now if I read the menu I should have an idea of what secret the Blucy is hiding, but until I bite into the Blucy (and I will bite and find out eventually) only the chef really knows whats inside. He created the Blucy, he knows exactly what is in there. There are no secrets between the Blucy and the creator.
So, yeah ..I’m tired, remember..
Till Next Time,
